Breaking all records set by Sivaji and Dasavathaaram, which were released worldwide with an approximate number of 760 and 1,050 prints respectively, Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Kuselan, directed by P. Vasu, will be released across the globe with around 1200 prints, sources said.
Rajinikanth's blockbuster Sivaji: The Boss was released with 760 prints, out of which 300 had been released in Telugu, 303 in Tamil, 145 in overseas, and 12 in North India. Meanwhile, Kamal Hassan's magnum opus Dasavathaaram opened with approximately 1,050 prints in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
Some theatres in Chennai screened as many as 45 shows a day across 21 theatres as opposed to Rajinikanths Sivaji, which was released across 17 theatres in the city. Pyramid Saimira, worldwide distributors of Kuselan, is now involved in distributing the film in maximum theatres in India and overseas. The film is expected to hit North India with around 150 Prints.
Kuselan, which was delayed due to post production work, will be released on August 1. This bilingual movie, a remake of the Malayalam movie Katha Parayumbol, will be released simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu as Kuselan and Kathanayukudu respectively. It is learned that the movie will feature Rajinikanth in 20 costumes, including an Egyptian Paraoh.
Meanwhile, recently released audio CDs and cassettes of Kuselan have opened to record sales, with reports that more than 2 lakh CDs have been sold within just 2 days all over the world. Apart from CDs, 50000 cassettes were reportedly sold in rural areas, breaking Sivaji's audio sales record.
Aegan to release in September
The film is a remake of the Bollywood block-buster 'Main Hoon Na'. His previous film, 'Billa', a remake of another Bolly flick, 'Don', did badly at the box-office, it remains to be seen what'll happen to this one. Smart move? >>
Ajith's Aegan look
Ajith and Shalini's little bundle of joy
Swashbuckling style: Ajith in Billa
Heres news that will set Ajith's fans hearts racing. Ajith-starrer Aegan, which has been in production since the latter half of the year 2007 will hit screens in September 2008 worldwide, according to sources of Ayngaran International, producers of this film.
Aegan is the remake of the Hindi blockbuster Main Hoon Na. There is a beautiful coincidence between the original version and its Tamil version. Farah Khan, the famous dance choreographer in Bollywood turned into a director with Main Hoon Na and Raju Sundaram, famous actor-dance-choreographer of the South turns director with Aegan.
In Aegan, Ajith plays the role essayed by Shahrukh Khan in the original and Suman plays the villain. At present, a spectacular stunt scene involving these two actors is being shot at Ennore. The stunt choreographer Ram Laxman has done an exceptional job and has created some fabulous stunt scenes, which will make one look through the violence and marvel at the splendid spectacle shown.
Interestingly, in the Hindi version, Shahrukh Khan choreographed a few stunt scenes which came out marvellously on the screen. Music of the film is by Yuvanshankar Raja. Aegan is yet another deviation from regular masala Tamil films, just like Billa (2007) in terms of splendour. Though it is filled with Indian sentiments, the way it has been packaged and presented should even put Hollywood film makers to shame.
Anushka in love?
Rumour mills are running amock! Is the lithe lady in love with a high profile producer or another hot young movie star? Is love in the air or is it considered taboo in this conservative industry? Find out now! >>
Wet or wild: Anushka drips!
Hot Genelia: Cool Attitude
Sexy Sneha shows off her pout
Anushka's debut opposite Nagarjuna in Super was exactly that: super. Her big bang debut gave her the chance to act with Sumanth in Mahanandi, with Ravi Teja in Vikramarkudu, with Gopichand in Lakshyam and with Jagapati Babu in Swagatham. Right now, she has paired up with Venkatesh in Chintakayala Ravi.
This ex-yoga teacher, who owes her great shape to all those 'asanas', was never shy about showing off her slim, toned body on screen. Her career graph zoomed due her ability to carry off the teeniest costumes with elan. Wanting to prove that her emoting skills are just as good, if not better than, her toned structure, Anushka signed up for Arundhati, a heroine-oriented movie with plenty of scope for the heroine to display her acting talents. Naturally, with all that success in such a short time, is it any surprise that shes been linked with a big time producer and now, with a young hero, all within a short span of a few months!
Rumours ran rampant of her driver being fired, as it was suspected he was responsible for the nasty gossip. These rumours come at a time when Anushka can ill afford to be linked to anyone on a permanent basis as Tollywood is shy of 'engaged' heroines. It seems like any heroine who shows the tiniest bit of talent and ambition falls prey to the nasty rumour mill that would like nothing better than a good ringside seat while the actress' reputation is torn to shreds.
